Rod Soat (Co-Owner/Photographer): Rod has over 20 years of professional portrait experience. Rod has studied photography under several Professional Photographers of America (PPA) affiliated schools and in 2000 he received his PPA certification joining an elite group of photographers world –wide to hold the PPA Certified status. Rod’s passion for photography began at a very early age. By his teenage years Rod was involved with school newspapers and yearbook including designing and developing his school’s darkroom. At age 16 Rod went to work for the first one hour photo lab in Jackson, and went on to take over as manager of that same lab, and others throughout Michigan, in two short years. Upon graduation from high school Rod Soat Photography was established after several friends and family members had contracted him to photograph there weddings. By 1988 Rod had received his Associate of Science from Jackson Community College and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Western Michigan University. Following graduation from college Rod expanded into the portrait market focusing on families and children. That focus and passion still continues today.
Lisa Soat (Co-Owner/ Studio Manager): Lisa has been managing the studio operations for the past four years. Prior to working for Rod Soat Photography Lisa spent 13 years in “corporate America” as an executive secretary for engineering, quality assurance and legal departments. Although Lisa doesn’t do any of the photographic work herself she has an eye for portraits and is well versed in cropping, retouching and assisting clients with placing orders. She is also a wonderful wife and mother.
